Over the years that have past us like a slow garbage truck on a foggy day, scenes of rebelling against the average simpleton have popped up like groundhogs.People that wanted something different. The 50s gave us amazing rockabilly/rock and roll, and a new way in danceing. iam assured being alive in the 50s would of been the best time period ever to go through. New products sprouted about and a new kind of music came in with a rocker kind of appearance. hair slicked back with a leather coat to go along with it. the late 60s brought us a wave of teenagers that where sick of the vietnam war, and took matters into there own hands by protesting, takeing far out drugs such as lsd/pot, and attending the worlds largest kind of concerts in the middle of nowhere. The late 70s brought us rebelling teens known as punks, angry hippies in a way if you think about it. with the major loss in casualties from vietnam, and many veterans going back into society, a government that was somewhat out of control created the pathway for punk. You cannot dispute the fact that issues in history is the reasoning for the creation of specific scenes. hippies,punks,black panther movement, and gangs help make such claim valid. In the late 70s a major collapse became intact with the black panther movement, which lead to gangs. the first two gangs where the infamous bloods and crips. both fueled with rebelling attitudes, a control for territory, drug sales, vengeance for the 60s massive civil rights movement, and ex black panther movement leaders in control of the two. If the kkk where never created, and racial prejudice in our government at that time didnt exist, then in my opinion major black gangs would of never even been thought of. Mistakes create more mistakes. The time of the 80s created great thrash bands, angry skinheads vs punks, hardcore, and the gay scene of hair metal. Nothing to this day besides of course this retarded scene that hits our generation called emo has been gayer. Men dressing up in leather pants, curly girly hair that involved a mass amount of hair spray to hold, and no fucking views on society or politics. Just dress up looking like a girl gone stupid to fuck other girls where there message. Bands like scorpions, twisted sister, motley crue, skid row, and europe helped increase such retarded uprising. the music they played was thought to be the hardest metal out when really thrash metal was quick to the punch, pull your hair out, amazing fucking metal. lyrics about having looks to kill, and girls girls girls is not fucking metal. but at the time they thought it was..real metal consists of headbanging riffs, lyrics that involve this fucked society and corrupt politics. this is where i make my comparison in ignorance. Deathcore to Hair metal. both scenes consist of there music being the most metal at the time being or ''most brutal''. Deathcore a new genre that is plagueing everyone in this generation. the uprising of the genre i think for the most part was by bad parenting, divorced parents, our shitty education in schools,television MTV for the most part, and not learning to let go of ex gfs.

what are ways you can help yourself and others in this economy recession?
a question that is a difficult one, especially when unemployment rate is 20 percent throughout america, debt which is in the trillions due to people who throw money away like is if it was garbage, and prices of things you need to live are skyrocketing. i have my own ideas on how things could help in this economy. number one. before spending your money to big brands, and corporation based companies there is a website called craigslist you can look into. A site that is very similar to ebay, but better! what basically is craigslist? well it is a people runned site that include millions of americans who are selling products, people who are looking to help you to find a job, people who are looking for a carpool to a state or to there job, people like yourself who are looking for a hookup or freinds, activites that are occuring in your area and many others. All you have to do when you go to this site is click on what things you are interested in such as a ipod, a job, hookup etc. then you click on the state you live in, the area, and boom! many ads popup in your search for awesome things. Now you ask, How does this help in such recession? well. you can get things very cheap such as a used car, a used ipod, old ww2 antiques, etc. which helps the person who is looking for some sort of income, and it helps you since you are paying way cheaper prices then stores ask for. in the time i have used craigslist i have sold things that i made more money off of then giving it to a pawn shop or gamestop. halo 3 odst (which is a horrible game) was put up by me for only 30 dollars. someone had bought it, if i would of sold the game at gamestop (which i call GAMECROOK lol) i only would of got about 15 bucks for it. Helped me out and the person who could of got the game for about 60 bucks at gamestop. All in all it is a great way to save money and help others get money. my reccomendations for this site since theyre are scammers that you come across from, never accept a money order or a papyal offer from a person for your product. Reason being..there are people out there who want to fuck you over. a paypal transfer could be someone elses account other than theres that want to buy your merchandise. doing such things could get you into trouble for fraud or stealing. money orders is another scam, a person that sends you such piece of paper could also be someone elses money. after cashing the money order that isnt the persons, you will end up having the fbi knock on your door and have you arrested. doesnt sound to good eh? nope. on craigslist ACCEPT ONLY cash and pickup!! thats it!

another way to help yourself and others in such economy recession is to buy food from small runned family businesses , not corporation runned franchises that are highly commercialized. Small businnesses are struggling very bad right now in this recession due to lazyness of people and the fact THEY arent commercialized. the outcomes? you get food that is straight up legit, and does not taste like shit, and the business gets money that they need in this recession. if everyone where to do this in the usa job employment would go up, and small runned businness would not have such a bad problem to the verge of closing down the business.Around my area the places i support greatly is MARONES deli, and Brothers pizza. These places make fucking orgasmic food, and is walking distance from me in which i dont have to waste gas for.

another way to help yourself, if you are a drinker or a smoker try going for a different approach to fill your addictive habits.First it was gas that was highly taxed, and prices raised. It is now Ciggarrettes. In my area the prices of ciggs are raising each day, 6 dollars and 50 cents for a pack of winstons here in pennsylvania chester county area which is too much. Compared to prices in europe and big cities in america, it isnt that bad. New york city as of right now is priceing about 9 bucks for a pack of smokes,which is insane. Now since Obama makes sleeps with a 100 dollar bill knitted blanket, he doesnt have to worry about purchaseing his high priced ciggs. In my down time i calculated how much an average person where to spend on a pack of ciggs a week at the end of the year. My calculations come in at about 2 thousand 500 dollars if you where to buy one pack a week..if you buy two packs a week that would be 5 thousand bucks. In such bad times, you dont need to spend all that kind of money. Now iam not saying OH just quit smoking, cuz who in saddams piss is gonna do that? I sure as shit wont lol. What you need to do is to purchase tobacco pouches and rolling papers. they are cheap, large in quantity and can last a while. Almost all europeaners have took this into consideration and are rolling there cigs with tobacco instead of buying packs, why cant you? all there is coming from this is pluses besides of course the main negative in which ciggs are totally bad for your health. Fuck if i care you're gonna die someday right? Pluses in this scenario are simple. The cigg high is tremendous since there is no filter. This helps your addictive habits to maintan longer. Quick easy and some what fun, and it is also helping those not so big businneses instead of the money fiending corporations that rule this country. My calculations if you where to purchase tobacco and pouches for the year would be about only a thousand 500 IF THAT. WHat greater way to feed your habit is there in saving money? Nothing beats that. Another thing, since the united states have passed that new fire safety ciggarrette law due to fat prego bellied drunks catching z's with a cigg in there fingers, dropping it and letting the whole carpet aflame the FSC fucking brands are terrible. For some reason they dont taste the same, and dont fill my habits as well. I even switched the ciggs i smoked because of that. buying tobacco and rolling papers defeats it all. Now if you are a drinker, and depend on the sweet taste of alcohol and the buzzing effects of it, i have some ideas for ya. Simple as this, try brewing you're own beer or alcohol. the materials, and ingredients you need for such act are cheap and worthy. There are many sites out there that teach you how to make your own shit, hell iam even assured there are youtube videos out about the topic. Now if you are thinking to yourself fuck that it wont taste the same..try giveing it a chance, and adapt to the new taste. Nothing but win comes from it. Or you could simply just buy cheaper brand alcohol such as natural ice for beer and popov for vodka etc etc. i know it tastes horrid, but as long as it does the trick right? such lifestyles must come to a closure when you are faceing economy issues. JUST DEAL WITH IT!

Cellular devices is another way you find yourself spending money. Question yourself if you REALLY need a cell phone, especially when the computer has aim/myspace/yahoo/skype/msn/ventrillo for great communication with freinds.With skype you can call any of your freinds that are on the computer as well simply by just using a computer microphone.Now if you most deffinately need some kind of phone look into ''the magic jack''. what this does is connect to your internet for calling worldwide. It is great, and only is about 19 dollars a year. a great price that stands no fucking chance to the 30 dollar a month house phone companies ask for. stop supporting big business and use your brain (if there is one left). Now if you MOST DEFINATELLY need a cell phone, look into the ''boost mobile'' by nextel. you pay 50 dollars a month for unlimited calling, texts, etc. Great idea, and the service is pretty great.

TAKE YOUR CREDIT CARD AND SHRED IT INTO A MILLION OF PIECES. credit is the absolutley worst foe in this situation, it could make you end up in terrible debt if used incorectly. Walking around with it in stores makes you feel as is you have money that is worth spending when really you dont. its a somewhat dellusional logic that sends millions of americans in head high debt. Understanding the fact all the things that are out on the market at this time bludgeon your eyes with amazingess and feelings of wanting it, but you cant just whip out that card and purchase the product. Credit card companies are making way too much fucking money due to the interest they recieve from you, and it needs to come to an end.

But there is still one more. go in that garage of yours and dust that bicycle seat off. Using a bicycle for transportation to areas around you sounds lame, but it is smart. I do understand you want to be the eye raiser in your car with metal tunes or rape tunes blareing out of your speakers, but its time for sacrificing. bikeing is a great way for transportation and weight loss also comes into effect.

Fire Safety Ciggarettes

does fire safety increase the risks of cancer? A question that I ask myself alot. Due to drunkened idiots that fall asleep with a ciggarrette in their hand while watching the john daily show or the 11 o clock news (which is extremely boring), and simple minded idiots throwing there ciggarrettes in dry areas, the united states have now passed new laws dealing with a different kind of ciggarrette. the fire safety cigg, fsc abbreviated. if you take a look at the new brands of ciggs that you buy from the store, on the bottom of the pack it should say FSC in bold letters. if it does not then you are lucky, and the place you bought it from could get in some minor trouble.When the new ciggs hit the stores, gass stations lost some money with the ciggs that wherent fsc because of the new lawing. gas stations everywhere started selling there old brands of ciggs for prices such as 2 dollars a pack, which i think was pretty awesome. aplus down the street from me was selling camel jades, camel lights, camel regulars, etc etc for only 2 bucks a pack! so i bought about 10 of them and was very pleased :). since the new ciggarrette has hit stores, the brands i used to smoke (which was camels, and marlboro menthols when the time was right for a nice bowl of pot or a blunt) i do not smoke anymore due to different taste in the ciggarrette. just i dont know it doesnt taste as strong or as full of flavor as they used to have. not just me but others have noticed the difference as well, and has changed there ciggarrette of choice. what else is different about them? for some reason sometimes when i take a puff of the fsc cigg weird sparking sounds come from the cherry..whatever that it is has got to not be good for you. even though smoking ciggarrettes in the first place isnt good for you haha.on that note i took a hand in researching what chemicals major businesses have put in the cigg(contain here what is in it)

with cig prices on the rise now at a whopping 6 dollars 50 cents a pack, and shitty tastes due to fsc. your best bet in such scenario is to buy pouch tobacco, and rolling papers. it is cheap, can roll about 100 ciggs in each pouch, and in a way you are helping the decline of sales in major big cigarrette businesses that are swimming in a pool full of thousand dollar bills as i type this.all the europeaners are doing it since prices for packs of ciggs out there are at a whopping ten dollars..if they are doing it at a massive rate, why cant us americans do the same? in such economy crisis every smokers new years resolution must be this. in the long run in my calculations, you are spending about 2 thousand 500 dollars a year in buying a pack of ciggarettes each week. if you start using rolling paper and tobacco pouches the price comes to be about only 1 thousand. you are saving a thousand 500 by doing such act. daily 5 news says smokers resolution should just quit in a whole, but come on. what smoker is gonna do that? i sure as shit wont i tell you that, especially when i have issues in my household each day dealing with a gambling addict crazed woman as a parent. well now its time to hit the sacks, peace, headbang and love to all HAPPY NEW YEARS!

Possessed is an American death metal band, originally formed in 1983. Noted for their fast style of playing and Becerra's guttural vocals, they have been cited as a great influence on the death metal genre.^[1] In fact, the band's influence on the genre is so great, they are sometimes called the "godfathers" of the death metal genre and are often considered the first death metal group,^[2] with the name of the genre possibly coming from their first demo entitled Death Metal.^[3] After breaking up in 1987, and briefly reforming from 1990 to 1993, the band reformed under original bassist/vocalist Jeff Becerra in 2007.
Pioneering the death metal genre and very thrash influenced, Possessed is easily one of my favorite bands. It's a good thing i live in Downey, CA cuz there's a shit load of Possessed/Sadistic Intent gigs here.

Annihilator - Alice In Hell

Annihilator were started in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada by Jeff Waters in 1984. He wrote and recorded the song "Annihilator" (different than the track of the same name released on the 1994 album, King of the Kill), with singer John Bates. This original version of "Annihilator" was released on the special edition of the 2005 album Schizo Deluxe. Waters and Bates then recruited drummer Paul Malek and bassist Dave Scott. This lineup lasted two years and the tracks written in this period made up a good part of the band's first two albums. Before the release of their debut LP, John Bates and Dave Scott decided to leave the band, citing "artistic differences" and "personality conflicts". Waters relocated to Vancouver where he assembled a whole new line-up, including former D.O.A. member Randy Rampage. Waters has frequently changed Annihilator's line-up throughout its run and performed as lead vocalist himself between the albums King of the Kill and Remains, the songs "Holding On" from 2004's All for You, "Too Far Gone" from the 2005 album Schizo Deluxe and "Operation Annihilation" from 2007's Metal. As of May 2009, Annihilator have abandoned their nine year relationship with SPV Records and are now negotiating with new labels to release the band's next studio release,^[1] due out early 2010.^[2]

Warbringer is an American thrash metal band. The band formed in 2004 as 'Onslaught' but changed their name after learning that a UK thrash metal band was already using the name. Warbringer is signed to Century Media Records. Century Media signed Warbringer after seeing them at a local show in LA. Originally, Century Media was at the show to see another LA thrash metal band but decided to sign Warbringer instead. Warbringer's second album Waking Into Nightmares was released on May 19th, 2009. [1] The album reached #14 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart.[2]

Rigor Mortis is a thrash metal band that formed in 1983. Two schoolmates Harden Harrison (drums) and Casey Orr (bass) formed the band when they met Mike Scaccia (guitar). The three young men shared an interest in horror/gore films and very heavy music. With Bruce Corbitt on vocals they created some of the heaviest thrash metal at the time often flirting with death metal. They were also one of the only major thrash bands from Texas and virtually created the underground metal scene there. The band was signed by Capitol Records in 1987. The original lineup reunited in 2005. Recently they performed at the one day Ozzfest 2008 in Texas, playing on the Texas stage.
Mike Scaccia has also played guitar with industrial metal band Ministry
Casey Orr also plays bass in the shock rock band GWAR, as the character Beefcake the Mighty
Harden Harrison also plays drums with the metal bands Speedealer and Mitra.
Bruce Corbitt also sings for the thrash metal band Warbeast (Formerly Texas Metal Alliance). The band is signed by Philip Anselmo's label Housecore Records and their debut album will be released in late 2009.
Former Rigor Mortis vocalist/guitarist Doyle Bright now plays guitar in the metal band Hallows Eve.
There was also a Rigor Mortis from New York that evolved into Immolation.

Razor is a Canadian speed/thrash metal band formed in 1984 at Guelph, Ontario. The group shot music videos for songs such as "Evil Invaders", "Shotgun Justice", "American Luck", and "Sucker for Punishment". The band dissolved in 1992, but reformed in the late 1990s to record another album, titled Decibels, in 1997. The band dissolved again, and reformed in 2005, and are currently planning to record another studio album. They were featured on the 2005 "The Gates of Hell Tour". Xentrix was a British thrash metal band of the late 1980s/early 1990s hailing from Preston, Lancashire.
They had a small bit of controversy/publicity surrounding the release of the Ray Parker Jr. cover Ghostbusters in which the original artwork for the single had an unauthorised use of the Ghostbusters logo (with the ghost flicking a V Sign). The single was subsequently re-released using a different cover.
The band broke up after the release of Kin and reformed after a period of inactivity with a new vocalist in Simon Gordon and guitarist Andy Rudd to replace Chris Astley. This line up released 1996’s [[Scourge]] only.
The band briefly reformed with its original line-up for a small number of dates in the UK in the early part of 2006. One of these shows included support from Onslaught and Evile. In September 2006 it was announced that the band was splitting up with no intention of reforming in the future.

Mortal sin, according to the beliefs of the Catholic Church (and some Protestant denominations such as Lutheranism) is a sin that, unless confessed and absolved (or at least sacramental confession is willed if not available), condemns a person's soul to Hell after death. WASHINGTON – California attorney Orly Taitz, who has filed a number of lawsuits demanding proof of Barack Obama's eligibility to serve as president, has released a copy of what purports to be a Kenyan certification of birth and has filed a new motion in U.S. District Court for its authentication.

This document purports to be a Kenyan certification of birth for Barack Obama, allegedly born in Mombasa, Kenya, in 1961

The document lists Obama's parents as Barack Hussein Obama and Stanley Ann Obama, formerly Stanley Ann Dunham, the birth date as Aug. 4, 1961, and the hospital of birth as Coast General Hospital in Mombasa, Kenya.

No doctor is listed. But the alleged certificate bears the signature of the deputy registrar of Coast Province, Joshua Simon Oduya. It was allegedly issued as a certified copy of the original in February 1964.

WND was able to obtain other birth certificates from Kenya for purposes of comparison, and the form of the documents appear to be identical.

Last week, a counterfeit document purporting to be Obama's Kenyan birth certificate made the rounds of the Internet, but was quickly determined to be fraudulent. The new document released by Taitz bears none of the obvious traits of a hoax.

Taitz told WND that the document came from an anonymous source who doesn't want his name known because "he's afraid for his life."

Taitz's motion, filed yesterday in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, requests the purported evidence of Obama's birth – both the alleged birth certificate and foreign records not yet obtained – be preserved from destruction, asks for permission to legally request documents from Kenya and seeks a subpoena for deposition from Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

"I filed the motion with the court asking for expedited discovery, which would allow me to start subpoenas and depositions even before Obama and the government responds," Taitz told WND. "I am asking the judge to give me the power to subpoena the documents from the Kenyan embassy and to require a deposition from Hillary Clinton so they will be forced to authenticate [the birth certificate].

"I'm forcing the issue, where Obama will have to respond," she said.

"Before, they said, 'You don't have anything backing your claims,'" Taitz explained. "Now I have something. In fact, I have posted on the Internet more than Obama has. My birth certificate actually has signatures."

Taitz's most celebrated case involved a military officer, Maj. Stefan Cook, whose order to deploy to Afghanistan was revoked when he challenged Obama's eligibility to hold office. That case has now been refiled in federal court in Florida, raising the specter of a class-action claim among members of the military that their orders aren't valid because of questions surrounding Obama's constitutional eligibility.

Taitz told WND she plans to file additional paperwork with the Florida court tomorrow, adding the alleged Kenyan birth certificate to Maj. Cook's case.

The suit seeks damages and a declaratory judgment. Named as defendants are Simtech, Cook's former civilian employer, and several officials, including Col. Louis B. Wingate and Secretary of Defense Robert Gates.

WND previously reported a judge in Georgia dismissed Cook's case when the government suddenly revoked his orders to report to Fort. Benning for deployment to Afghanistan.

WND reported when the case originally was filed that Cook's concern was that without proof that there is a legitimate commander in chief, the entire U.S. Army becomes "merely a corps of chattel slaves under the illegitimate control of a private citizen."

Cook told WND: "As an officer in the armed forces of the United States, it is [my] duty to gain clarification on any order we may believe illegal. With that said, if President Obama is found not to be a 'natural-born citizen,' he is not eligible to be commander in chief."

The new complaint says it seeks Cook's reinstatement with his civilian employer, Simtech Inc., as well as protection from the Department of Defense and president "from further retaliation for plaintiff's challenge to the president's constitutional authority."

WND has reported on dozens of legal challenges to Obama's status as a "natural born citizen." The Constitution, Article 2, Section 1, states, "No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President."

Some of the lawsuits question whether he was actually born in Hawaii, as he insists. If he was born out of the country, Obama's American mother, the suits contend, was too young at the time of his birth to confer American citizenship to her son under the law at the time.

Other challenges have focused on Obama's citizenship through his father, a Kenyan subject to the jurisdiction of the United Kingdom at the time of his birth, thus making him a dual citizen. The cases contend the framers of the Constitution excluded dual citizens from qualifying as natural born.

Complicating the situation is Obama's decision to spend sums estimated in the hundreds of thousands of dollars to avoid releasing a state birth certificate that would put to rest all of the questions.

WND has reported that among the documentation not yet available for Obama includes his kindergarten records, his Punahou school records, his Occidental College records, his Columbia University records, his Columbia thesis, his Harvard Law School records, his Harvard Law Review articles, his scholarly articles from the University of Chicago, his passport, his medical records, his files from his years as an Illinois state senator, his Illinois State Bar Association records, any baptism records, and his adoption records.

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas: A Savage Journey to the Heart of the American Dream is a non-fiction book by Hunter S. Thompson. The book is a roman a clef, rooted in autobiographical incidents. The story follows its protagonist, Raoul Duke, and his attorney, Dr. Gonzo, as they descend on Las Vegas to chase the American Dream through a drug-induced haze. The novel first appeared as a two-part series in Rolling Stone magazine in 1971. It was later adapted into the 1998 film of the same name starring Johnny Depp and Benicio del Toro.

He turns the studio on it’s ear and becomes wildly popular with the troops but runs afoul of the middle management who think he isn’t G.I. enough. While he is off the air, he tries to meet Vietnamese especially girls, and begins to have brushes with the real war that never appears on the radio.
With excellent support from Forrest Whitaker(one of my favorites!he ends up sort of counter-balancing Williams’ manic frenzy with nerdish normalcy as his buddy/assistant/guide),Richard Edson,Noble Winnigham,Robert Wuhl and Cu Ba Nguyen(as the oily GI bar proprietor)among others,this film,directed by Barry Levinson(whose work hasn’t been this good in what feels like forever,certainly not since Avalon or Rain Man) and written by Mitch Markowitz,it is arguable one of the deftest films to create and maintain a balance between the horrors and inhumanity of war and the humor and pathos that are very much present in it. Robin Williams’ fans may get much more out of this that those who aren’t,but I think even many of those who don’t consider themselves fanciers of his talents should be able to appreciate this. The images were powerful enough that they stuck with me some after the first time I saw GMV and after a second time I feel like can appreciate even more out of this movie.

I was first introduced to this album when I was 9 or 10. It's an awesome album that provides a unique sound that STILL hasn't been done propely. A must-have album for any metalhead.

Devourment is a death metal band from Dallas, Texas. Formed in 1995, the band has split up and reformed three times and none of the original members remain. The current lineup is Mike Majewski (vocals), Ruben Rosas (guitars), Captain Piss(bass) and Eric Park (drums).

Unleash the Carnivores is Devourment's second full length album. The mixing is much better than that of Butcher the Weak, as well as the song writing. It's a great album and one that I've been looking forward to for a long time. Check out 'Incitement to Mass Murder' (track 4).

The film follows a single day in the life of a young LAPD cop Jake Hoyt (Hawke) as he is subject to a single day evaluation by Detective Alonzo Harris (Washington), a highly decorated LAPD narcotics officer.

After meeting in a coffee shop, Jake rides with Alonzo in his car, a black 1979 Chevrolet Monte Carlo lowrider, during the day. During the first few moments of their interaction, it becomes quickly apparent that Jake's 'by the book' dictum is in stark contrast to Alonzo's philosophy of blending in with the street. They first detain some college students buying marijuana from a dealer, but instead of arresting them they just take their drugs. Jake is suddenly put into a compromising position when Alonzo offers him a hit of the marijuana (that is, unknown to Jake, laced with PCP) as a test of his 'street smarts', threatening to throw him out if he doesn't smoke it. Jake relents under pressure and does what he is told.

Alonzo then takes Jake to the home of a man named Roger (Scott Glenn), with whom Alonzo appears to have a close relationship. As they are cruising down the street later on, Jake notices a female high school student being attacked by two men in a side alley and jumps out to save her while Alonzo watches. Jake wants to process the men and the girl, but Alonzo dismisses her and leaves the two men out on the street. Jake discovers the girl's pink wallet before he leaves and picks it up. They then go on to harass a drug dealer named Blue (Snoop Dogg) and steal drug money in the presence of a dealer's wife (Macy Gray) and nephew who live in Imperial Courts, after which Jake is transported to The Jungles to visit Alonzo's Salvadoran mistress, Sara (Eva Mendes), and their young son, where he establishes that the gangs in the housing project all fear and respect him. This is followed by a meet with three high ranking police officers — known as the "Three Wisemen": D.A. Stan Gursky (Tom Berenger), Detective Doug Rosselli (Harris Yulin), and Captain Lou Jacobs (Raymond J. Barry) — where it is clear from their conversation that Alonzo has bigger problems than breaking in a new rookie, but the details are left very vague. They thus give him permission to "cash in" on an "account".

Alonzo goes back to Roger's home with Jake and some fellow "narcs" (narcotics officers) led by Jeff (Peter Greene) and Paul (Dr. Dre) and their followers Tim (Nick Chinlund) and Mark (Jaime Gomez), seizing Roger's money stash hidden underneath the floor of his kitchen, and offering a cut to the team (though Jake refuses it) before shooting Roger as he sits unarmed and helpless. Jake is horrified by what he has just witnessed and while the crew sets out to manipulate the crime scene, he snaps, resulting in a tense standoff between him and the corrupt officers. But he soon realizes his predicament and surrenders when Alonzo mentions the department's blood test as his wild card, which would ruin him as it would detect the PCP he had smoked during the day. The backup arrives to clean up, and Jake expresses his overall disgust at the way Alonzo operates, to which Alonzo replies that it is part of his pragmatic methodology.

The pair later arrive at the home of a Latino gangster named "Smiley" (Cliff Curtis), who is playing poker with two other gang members, Moreno (Noel Gugliemi) and Sniper (Raymond Cruz). After playing a hand, Jake becomes aware that Alonzo has abandoned him to the thugs, after which Smiley informs him of Alonzo's situation; he must pay one million dollars to the Russian mob for killing one of their couriers in Las Vegas, or face death — which would explain the heist on Roger's stash. Jake tries to escape, but he is overpowered and dragged into the bathroom to be shot. They ignore his mercy pleas and search his pockets, finding the pink wallet he had picked up earlier which, coincidentally, belongs to Smiley's cousin. Jake desperately tells him where he found it, and Smiley calls his cousin, who confirms Jake's story and provides his physical description. Smiley is visibly moved by the coincidence and calls off the hit, letting him go and returning his gun.

Jake returns to Sara's apartment looking for Alonzo; he attempts to arrest him as he tries to make his appointment with the Russians, but Alonzo resists. Jake eventually subdues him, after which gang members and local residents begin congregating to watch the conflict. Alonzo tries to get the crowd on his side, but it becomes evident that Jake had stripped him of his power and that the neighborhood has had enough of him; they allow Jake to walk away with the money, who intends to turn it in as evidence.

In his desperate escape to LAX, a broken Alonzo meets his end when a crew of Russian hitmen viciously gun him down at a quiet intersection. The final scene has Jake pulling into his driveway and going home to his wife, Lisa (Charlotte Ayanna), and daughter, while a radio broadcast reports Alonzo's death — describing it as occurring honorably 'in the line of duty', echoing a threat he had earlier made to Jake.

In New York City, detective Max Payne is a three-year veteran in the Cold Case unit. He is consumed with investigating and finding the murderer of his wife, Michelle, and their infant daughter. Trevor, Max's snitch, supplies information that leads Max to three drug addicts in an empty train station. They attempt to rob Max in a bathroom; instead, Max interrogates one of them about his family’s murder, with no results. At Trevor's apartment, Max meets Natasha Sax, who gets into an argument with her sister, Mona. When Natasha storms off, Max searches for her in the back where partiers are using the drug "Valkyr". Max is silently confronted by Jack Lupino, but Natasha takes Max back to the party. Max notices Natasha’s tattoos and wants information about them, so he invites her back to his apartment. However, when Natasha tries to seduce Max, she makes insensitive comments about his wife and Max kicks her out.

The next morning, Natasha is found dead, and Max's wallet is discovered at the crime scene. Max becomes the prime suspect in the case, with his old partner, Alex Balder, taking part in the investigation. Alone, Alex notices the tattoo on Natasha's arm is similar to one found in the case file of Max's wife. Alex tries to contact Max, but with no response, he quickly leaves for Max's apartment. When Max arrives home, he finds the door ajar and his place a mess. Alex lies dead inside and as Max investigates he is knocked unconscious from behind.

Max wakes up in a hospital, to find his trusted friend BB Hensley, his father's former partner in the NYPD, at his bedside. Hensley is now head of security of the pharmaceutical company Aesir Corporation. Max leaves the hospital early to pay his respects to Alex, but is kicked out by Alex's upset wife Christa. While being questioned by Lieutenant Jim Bravura of Internal Affairs, Max storms out and searches Alex's desk, finding Owen Green's name in Natasha's case file. Later, Max is confronted by Mona, who assumes Max killed her sister, but Max persuades her to help him find the actual killer. Max and Mona find Green, but cannot save him as he falls out of a building to his death.

Max and Mona visit Natasha's tattoo parlor. The tattoo artist tells them Natasha's tattoo represents the wings of a Valkyrie, which, in Norse mythology, are creatures that decide the fate of warriors in battle. Max takes some of Michelle's belongings out of storage and discovers documents from when she worked at the Aesir Corporation. Taking some of the documents, Max meets Hensley at a diner and demands the name of Michelle's old supervisor.

Max interrogates the supervisor, Jason Colvin, learning that Michelle's death was associated with a government contract to create super soldiers using the highly addictive Valkyr. Few subjects showed positive results, the rest went insane and the project was terminated. Jason agrees to testify with immunity, but as they leave, armed Aesir security forces kill Jason. Max escapes with the evidence and shows the video to Mona. It explains the Valkyr project; Lupino's testimony explains that, while taking the drug, Lupino feels invincible, with no side effects. Max goes to Lupino's hideout, Ragna Rok; while fighting Lupino, Max's defeat appears to be certain until Hensley arrives and kills Lupino. Max gets knocked unconscious after the brawl as he is leaving the hideout.

Hensley explains that he is selling Valkyr and admits to killing Michelle because she inadvertently came across incriminating documents. Hensley plans to drown Max in the river, with a weight secured to his ankle and Valkyr in his pocket, hoping to make it look like a drug-induced suicide. Before he can be tied to the weight, Max escapes by jumping into the icy river. He swims to shore and, to prevent hypothermia, consumes both vials of Valkyr, transforming himself into a super soldier with visions of Valkyries. Max follows Hensley back to the Aesir building and confronts him on the building's heliport, where Max kills him and then is surrounded by the police.

After the credits, Max is shown arriving at a bar where he meets Mona. She shows him a newspaper article about Aesir's stock prices rising, next to a photo of Aesir CEO Nicole Horne.

Thrash revivalists Municipal Waste released the cover art for their new album coming out on August 28. The artwork has an old-school punk/thrash feel, which fits this band perfectly. It's one of the cooler metal album fronts I've seen recently and it reminds me of the old Suicidal Tendencies style. they have release one song so far called ''wrong answer'', the song is below. i like it alot :)

Former Marine Corps sniper Thomas Beckett (Tom Berenger) is hired by the CIA to assassinate Gen. Valstoria (Peter Linka), a man responsible for ethnic cleansing in Kosovo. Beckett is teamed up with John Cole (Bokeem Woodbine), who is on death row for killing a federal officer. Beckett and Cole are dropped from a helicopter near a Roman Catholic basilica. There, they meet an underground resistance member named Sophia (Erika Marozsán). Sophia takes them to her apartment, which is perched high above the designated area where Valstoria is due to show up, near a government building. The next day, Beckett assassinates his target, using a Mosin Nagant M91/30. Then Cole and Beckett are on the move. When they hitch a ride on a public tram, nearby soldiers stop the vehicle and try to arrest them, but the two operatives take over the tram and ram it into some police cars. They escape, running through the streets. Cole is captured and put into a prison where the Serbs keep their so-called 'special enemies.'

Beckett meets Sophia, and plans to rescue Cole. With the help of Sophia's brothers, the next day they use boxed in military trucks carrying Cole and a fellow prisoner. Beckett takes a concealed shot, killing the driver and the passenger, and helping Cole and Pavel, a political prisoner (Tamás Puskás) out of the truck. At the end, Beckett ends up killing a tracker, and Cole ends up 'taking a bullet to the chest in the name of freedom.'

The movie has been criticized for a lot of technical flaws, for example: weapon inaccuracies, Serbs speaking Hungarian, Budapest being the capital of Serbia and similar flaws.

Thomas Beckett (Berenger) is an experienced U.S. Marine sniper. After losing several spotters in combat missions, he is paired up with the contrastingly inexperienced, and civilian, Richard Miller (Zane). Their goal: to eliminate a rebel general who is being financed by a reclusive Panamanian drug lord.

Miller is a SWAT team sharpshooter but lacks combat experience and has no confirmed kills to his name. When he is on the way to the staging area, his helicopter is attacked by a guerilla with an assault rifle, who kills most of the men in it. Miller takes out his rifle and acquires a bead on the man, but is unable to pull the trigger. Fortunately, the chopper's dying machine gunner manages to kill the guerilla before succumbing to his wounds.

When Beckett and Miller set off, friction immediately occurs between them, based in part on Beckett's insistence on deviating from the mission plan that Miller was given, but mostly on the fact that Miller (though nominally in command) has no experience or aptitude for jungle operations. Early on, they encounter a group of Indians, who agree to lead them past the rebel guerillas, in return for a favor. They want the team to eliminate Sirohano, a torture master who's working with the rebels, listed as a target of opportunity.

Beckett agrees to do so, and informs Miller that he expects Miller to make the kill: the general is setting up a meeting with the drug lord, allowing the sniper team the opportunity to kill both men. However, Beckett is not certain of Miller's reliability. Miller proves him right by deliberately missing the shot. One of the Indians is killed by rebel return fire, and they refuse to help the team any further.

Shortly after, the two are tracked by a Dragunov-wielding rebel sniper who has been targeting Beckett, his former instructor. Beckett uses Miller as bait to draw the sniper out, but kills him before Miller can be harmed. Miller is infuriated by this.

The two men reach the general's hacienda and take up positions. While they are waiting for their targets to emerge, Miller is seen. Beckett kills Miller's attacker while Miller shoots and kills the drug lord. The two rendezvous outside the compound, where Beckett insists on them going back to kill the general as well. Miller refuses and an argument erupts, leading to an exchange of fire between Beckett and Miller, which ends when Miller runs out of ammunition. Beckett is subsequently captured by rebels.

Miller, following his orders to eliminate Beckett if he threatens the mission, follows Beckett into the rebel camp. Inside, he encounters the general and kills him with his knife, then sees Beckett being tortured by Sirohano. He acquires a bead on the sniper, but instead kills Sirohano and rescues Beckett. The two men reach their pick-up point and are safely extracted.

The film opens with news footage of the crisis in Burma. Burma (also known as Myanmar) is under the iron fist rule of Than Shwe and takes harsher stances against the nation's pro-democracy movement. Rebels are thrown into a mine-infested marsh and then gunned down by a Burmese army unit, while the Burmese military officer Major Pa Tee Tint gazes grimly at the scene.

Former U.S. soldier John Rambo still lives in Thailand and now resides in a village near the Burmese border. He makes a living capturing snakes and selling them in a nearby village. He also transports roamers in his boat. A missionary, Michael Burnett (Paul Schulze), asks Rambo to take him and his associates up the Salween River to Burma on a humanitarian mission to the help the Karen people. Rambo refuses but is convinced by Sarah Miller (Julie Benz) to take them.

The boat is stopped by pirates who demand Sarah in exchange for passage. After negotiation fails, Rambo kills them all. Although his actions save the missionaries, it greatly disturbs them. Upon arrival, Michael says that they will travel by road and will not need Rambo's help for the return trip. The mission goes well until the army, led by the Major Tint, brutally attacks the village, killing most of the villagers and two missionaries, and kidnapping the rest. When the missionaries fail to come back after ten days, their pastor comes to Rambo to ask for his help in guiding hired mercenaries to the village where the missionaries were last seen.

Troubled by Sarah's potential fate, Rambo decides to accompany the soldiers. After seeing the destroyed village filled with mutilated humans and animals, Rambo encourages the platoon to move on. Hijacking a truck, they create a plan to save the hostages at the P.O.W. camp, doing so within fifteen minutes to avoid alerting the army. Rambo helps Sarah and the others to escape. The Myanmar Army (Tatmadaw) unit finds their hostages missing and organizes a massive manhunt. Everyone except for Rambo, Sarah, and "School Boy" is captured. Just as the group is to be executed, Rambo hijacks a truck-mounted .50-caliber machine gun and engages the Burmese army. A group of Karen rebels joins the fight to help Rambo and the mercenaries defeat the boats of the Burmese army. Seeing that the battle is lost Major Tint decides to flee, only to run into Rambo's machete, which Rambo then uses to disembowel the Major, killing him.

Encouraged by Sarah's words, Rambo returns to the United States. The last scene shows him walking along a rural highway, past a horse farm and a rusted mailbox with the name "R. Rambo" on it. He makes his way down the gravel driveway as the credits roll.

Rambo is busy working in a labor camp prison, when he gets a visit from his former commander, Colonel Samuel Trautman (Richard Crenna). Trautman offers Rambo the chance to be released from prison after the events of the first film and given full clemency, but on condition of him going into Vietnam to search for American POWs. Rambo meets Marshal Murdock (Charles Napier), an American bureaucrat who is in charge of the operation and he tells Rambo that the American public is demanding knowledge about the POWs and they want a trained commando to go in and search for the POWs. However, Rambo is briefed that he is only to photograph the POWs and not to rescue them, nor is he to engage any enemy soldiers. Rambo reluctantly agrees and he is then told that an agent of the American government will be there to receive him in the jungles of Vietnam.

He is then parachuted into the Vietnamese jungles, however while parachuting, Rambo loses some of his equipment and is left only with his knives, his bow, and arrows. He meets the American agent, a girl named Co (Julia Nickson) who wants to go to America. Rambo comes to the camp and finds American POWs there, and he rescues one of them. He, Co and the American POW are in a boat when a gunboat attacks them, Rambo however sends Co and the POW to safety and manages to destroy the gunboat with an RPG. When Rambo calls for extraction, he is denied as Murdock fears what will happen to him and his party if the American public come to know about it.

Rambo and the American POW are captured. He learns that the Soviet Army is aiding the Vietnamese and training them, and is tortured badly by a Soviet officer, Lt. Col. Podovsky (Steven Berkoff) and his robust henchman Sergeant Yushin. Rambo is ordered to contact the American military and tell them that they should not send any more commandos for rescue operations in Vietnam. Meanwhile, Co enters the camp in the guise of a prostitute and comes to the hut in which Rambo is held captive. Rambo then agrees to Podovsky's condition, but instead threatens Murdock on the radio that he is coming to get him, then escapes from captivity into a nearby jungle with Co's help. Co then tends to Rambo's wounds and begins to implore him to take her to the United States. Rambo agrees and they share a kiss. But then, some Vietnamese soldiers attack them and Co is killed. Rambo kills them all and then he buries Co's body in the jungles, promising to never forget her and deeply saddened by the romance that was never meant to be.

Following his escape, many Soviet and Vietnamese soldiers are looking for him. Rambo assembles his weapons, and using guerilla warfare tactics, is able to kill a large number of enemy troops. He then proceeds to a small enemy camp and destroys it and several vehicles with explosive arrows. He then hijacks a UH-1N Twin Huey helicopter from the Soviets after killing Sergeant Yushin and proceeds towards the POW camp. He destroys most of the camp with the helicopter, then lands and arms himself with the M60 machine gun that is mounted on the Huey, kills the remaining soldiers, and rescues all the POWs. They get to the helicopter and move towards the American camp in Thailand. However, Lt. Col. Podovsky chases them in his Mil Mi-24 helicopter gunship. Although Rambo's helicopter is heavily damaged by Podovsky's helicopter, he manages to go forward and descending his helicopter on a river, fakes his death, as soon as Podovsky comes near him and gets careless, Rambo gets up and fires an LAW at Podovsky's chopper, obliterating it.

Rambo then returns to the base and using the M60E3 machine gun from the Huey destroys Murdock's command center. He then unsheathes his knife and threatens Murdock to find and rescue the remaining American POWs in Vietnam. Trautman then comforts Rambo and tries to pacify him. Rambo however gets angry and says that he only wants his country to love its soldiers as much as its soldiers love it. Rambo then moves towards an unknown destination. Trautman asks him: "How will you live, John?" To which Rambo replies: "Day by Day." The film credits roll as Rambo walks off into the distance while his mentor watches him.

The film opens with Colonel Samuel Trautman (Richard Crenna) returning to Thailand (where the second film took place) to once again enlist the help of Vietnam veteran John J. Rambo (Sylvester Stallone). After witnessing Rambo's victory in a stick-fighting match, Trautman visits the construction site of the temple Rambo is helping to build and asks Rambo to join him on a mission to Afghanistan. The mission is meant to supply weapons, including FIM-92 Stinger missiles, to Afghan rebels, the Mujahideen, who are fighting the Soviets in the Soviet-Afghan War. Despite showing him photos of civilians suffering under Soviet military intervention, Rambo refuses and Trautman chooses to go on his own.

While in Afghanistan, Trautman's troops are ambushed by Soviet troops while passing through the mountains at night. Trautman is imprisoned in a Soviet base and coerced for information by Colonel Zaysen (Marc de Jonge) and his henchman Kourov (Randy Raney). Rambo learns of the incident from embassy field officer Robert Griggs (Kurtwood Smith) and convinces Griggs to take him through an unofficial operation, despite Grigg's warning that the U.S. government will deny any knowledge of his actions if killed or caught. Rambo immediately flies to Pakistan where he meets up with Mousa (Sasson Gabai), a weapons supplier who agrees to take him to a village deep in the Afghan desert, close to the Soviet base where Trautman is kept. The Mujahideen in the village are already hesitant to help Rambo in the first place, but are definitely convinced not to help him when their village is attacked by Soviet helicopters after one of Mousa's shop assistants has informed the Soviets of Rambo's presence. Aided only by Mousa and a young boy named Hamid (Doudi Shoua), Rambo makes his way to the Soviet base and starts his attempts to free Trautman. The first attempt is unsuccessful and results not only in Hamid getting shot in the leg, but also in Rambo himself getting wood shrapnel in the side. After escaping from the base, Rambo tends to Hamid's wounds and sends him and Mousa away to safety.

The next day, Rambo returns to the base once again, just in time to rescue Trautman from being tortured with a blow-torch. After rescuing several other prisoners, Rambo steals a helicopter and escapes from the base. However, the helicopter soon crashes and Rambo and Trautman are forced to continue on foot. After a confrontation in a cave, where Rambo and Trautman eliminate several Soviet Spetsnaz commandos including Kourov, they are confronted by an entire army of Soviet tanks, headed by Zaysen. Just as they are about to be overwhelmed by the might of the Red Army, the Mujahideen warriors, together with Mousa and Hamid, ride onto the battlefield by the hundreds in a cavalry charge, overwhelming the Communists. In the ensuing battle, in which both Trautman and John are wounded, Rambo manages to kill Zaysen by driving a tank into the Russian's helicopter. Rambo survives the explosion and gets out of the tank. At the end of the battle Rambo and Trautman say goodbye to their Mujahideen friends and leave Afghanistan to go home.

USN Rear Admiral Leslie Riegart's (Gene Hackman) carrier battle group is in the final stages of a NATO peacekeeping deployment when Naval Aviator Lieutenant Jeremy Stackhouse (Gabriel Macht) and Naval Flight Officer Lieutenant Chris Burnett (Owen Wilson) decide to take their F/A-18F Super Hornet (launched from the aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson), stationed somewhere in the Adriatic Sea, off course to check out a suspicious target. Their plane is shot down by a SA-13 SAM controlled by Serbian forces led by General Miroslav Lokar (Olek Krupa) and his second in command Colonel Viktor Bazda. Lokar is committing a secret genocidal campaign against the Bosniak people in a no-fly zone that the NATO plane violates and photographs; wanting to avoid being discovered, Lokar has the plane shot down. Burnett and Stackhouse eject from their plane and land in Serb-held territory. Stackhouse was injured from the ejection and Burnett attempts to contact Reigart for help but a Serb patrol finds Stackhouse; Burnett observes as they interrogate and execute him.

Burnett proceeds to evade the Serbs, narrowly escaping their patrols on several occasions. All the while he maintains contact with Reigart to receive information on his extraction point. The resulting attempt to rescue the downed aviator is complicated by political considerations which are forced on Riegart by his NATO commanding officer Admiral Juan Miguel Piquet (Joaquim de Almeida), including using his own team for the extraction rather than the team that Riegart put together. Burnett is stalked by Sasha (Vladimir Mashkov); a marksman who is sent by Lokar to kill Burnett after realizing that Stackhouse had lied about being on a solo mission whilst being interrogated. Although Sasha locates Burnett whilst he is radioing the carrier group from atop a dam, Burnett escapes after sliding down the dam face. Burnett makes his way to another supposedly safe location where he again initiates contact with Admiral Riegart. Burnett is told to move to a different location with the excuse that his area is unfit for aerial extraction. Whilst speaking to the carrier group, Burnett spots the Serb forces who have been searching for him and attempts to flee. Admiral Riegart fears that Burnett has been captured or KIA but Burnett is located via satellite imagery and is seen to be fleeing across a field, and then falling to the ground. Riegart questions whether Burnett has been shot by the pursuing Serbs, but instead Burnett had fallen into the mass graves he and Stackhouse had photographed and hides under a dead body to avoid detection. The satellite image is lost, but it renews Riegarts determination to rescue the downed navigator. He contacts Sky News to inform them of Burnett's fate.

Whilst being pursued by Sasha, Burnett comes across a road and stops a pickup truck. The driver recognizes that he is the pilot from the news and offers to transport him on the back of his truck; bound for the small Bosnian town of Hač. Burnett graciously accepts but is unaware that the town is a combat zone. Burnett is taken to what appears to be a mall and accused of collaborating with the Serbian forces and for causing the genocide which he had photographed. Whilst attempting to prove his word the building is hit by a tank shell that propels Burnett through a window. Serbian forces swarm the mall and believe they have found Burnett's body, but he switched uniforms with a Serb militant and escaped, leaving his destroyed radio behind. The Serbians parade the dead militiaman wearing Burnett's uniform by concealing his head with a bag, claiming that Burnett had been shot by Muslim forces. Their ruse works as Burnett arrives at the next evacuation point only to see the helicopter changing direction to return to the carrier group.

Burnett makes his way to the crash site and locates his ejection seat, where he manages to reactivate the homing beacon, notifying the carrier group of his presence, but also alerting the Serbs to his location. Riegart immediately sets out to rescue Burnett in full knowledge that doing so would mean his disobeying a direct order. Meanwhile General Lokar sends both Bazda and Sasha to return Burnetts body, informing Sasha to shoot Burnett in the head. Whilst making their way through a minefield to intercept Burnett, Bazda steps on a mine and pleads with Sasha to save him. Sasha draws a pistol on Bazda and tells him to remain still, and then leaves him behind. Sasha sees Burnett hiding behind the ejection seat, and at first remains confident that he can out-wait the American, but on hearing helicopter engines, he makes his way over to Burnett and realizes he has been tricked. Burnett jumps out of a snowdrift behind Sasha and shoots him several times but fails to kill Sasha. They engage in a hand-to-hand fight where Sasha delivers multiple blows to Burnett, but Burnett pulls a flare and stabs Sasha in the chest with it; killing him.

Immediately after Burnett kills Sasha, Serbian T-72 tanks, BMP-1 armor vehicles and infantry break through the tree line and begin to fire upon Burnett; who runs to a nearby angel statue. As he reaches the statue U.S Marines UH-1 Iroquois helicopters, under Riegart's command appear over the cliff face and begin to fire upon the Serbians. Although meters away from the rescue helicopter, Burnett turns and runs back to the ejection chair to retrieve the hard drive upon which the photos of General Lokar's actions were stored. He retrieves the disk and is successfully extracted. After the rescue he hands over the disc containing the photographic evidence to Riegart and destroys the letter given to Reigart before his mission began. Titles then reveal that Burnett continued to serve in the navy and that his photographs lead to Lokar's arrest and subsequent extradition to the ICTY. The film ends as Riegart retires from the Navy having been relieved of his command.

At the beginning of the American Revolution, Benjamin Martin (Gibson) is a South Carolina veteran of the French and Indian War and a widower raising his seven children on his farm. Gabriel (Ledger), the eldest, is anxious to join the American forces fighting the British in the Revolutionary War. Knowing war from personal experience, Ben tries to discourage his son's ambitions, but his son enlists anyway.

Gabriel returns home two years later, stumbling wounded into the family home and carrying military dispatches. The next day, a military skirmish have the Martins caring for the wounded from both sides. British soldiers - the ruthless Green Dragoons cavalry - arrive and kill the Colonial wounded, burn down the Martin house and arrest Gabriel as a spy, intending to hang him. When Ben's next eldest son, Thomas (Smith), protests against Gabriel's capture, he is shot and killed by the leader of the Green Dragoons, Colonel William Tavington (Isaacs), loosely based on Banastre Tarleton.

Making use of his knowledge of fighting in the wilds, Ben and his two younger sons, Nathan (Morgan) and Samuel (Chafin) set forth to ambush the British column in the woods. They manage to kill most of the soldiers in an ambush and free Gabriel. The boys are horrified at their first glimpse of their father's ferocity. Gabriel rejoins the cause against his father's will again, stating it is his duty as a soldier. Ben decides to join as well, leaving the rest of the children in the care of their aunt Charlotte (Richardson), Ben's sister-in-law.

Continental Army Colonel Harry Burwell (Cooper), having fought alongside Ben in the French and Indian War, asks him to organize a militia designed to keep British General Cornwallis (Wilkinson) in the south until the French navy arrives to assist. French officer Jean Villeneuve (Karyo), is present to help train the militia.

Ben's South Carolina militia uses guerrilla warfare, attacking the British supply lines. To combat the militia, Cornwallis has Tavington track Ben's family to their refuge with Charlotte and burns down her plantation. However, the family escapes, and are led to a safe haven by Gabriel. Gabriel also marries his childhood friend Anne (Brenner). Soon after, Tavington orders Anne and her family, along with all their fellow townspeople, to be burned alive whilst locked in the church for aiding the Continentals.

A grief-stricken Gabriel rides out with others to avenge their loss. During the ensuing fight, Tavington kills Gabriel and escapes. Ben is devastated and his zeal for combat extinguished, but soon returns to the Continentals to avenge his sons. During the final battle, in which Ben uses the militia to lure the British into a trap, Ben fights Tavington in a vicious duel. Tavington manages to bring Ben to his knees and mocks him, "Kill me before the war is over, will you? It would seem you are not the better man!" Tavington is about to behead Ben but he ducks, stabs Tavington in the stomach with a bayonet, and with the words "You're right. My sons were better men", he sinks the bayonet into Tavington's throat. The tide of battle quckly turns and Cornwallis is forced to retreat and eventually surrenders.

Martin and his family return to their home to find the militia helping to rebuild it. Occam (Jones) tells Ben, "Gabriel said that if we won the war, we could build a whole new world. Just figured we'd get started right here, with your home."

The movie begins with newly promoted Captain Robert Gould Shaw (Matthew Broderick) at the Battle of Antietam, on September 17, 1862. His troops are nearly destroyed and he is trapped between gunfire and cannon fire. Grazed by shrapnel, he falls near a dead soldier and passes out. He is awakened by a black grave digger named John Rawlins (Morgan Freeman). Despite what happened at Antietam, Shaw is appointed commander of the first all black regiment, the 54th Massachusetts. Hesitant, he agrees, with his childhood friend, Cabot Forbes (Cary Elwes), as the executive officer. Their first volunteer is another one of Shaw's friends, an educated, literate, free black man named Thomas Searles (Andre Braugher).

They soon have hundreds of men joining the regiment, including John Rawlins; a proud escaped slave named Trip (Denzel Washington); and a young, free black man named Jupiter Sharts (Jihmi Kennedy). Once at camp, Thomas, Rawlins, Trip, and Sharts all share one tent along with a mute drummer boy. Shaw soon learns of a Confederate proclamation that any black caught bearing arms against the Confederacy will immediately be returned to a state of slavery. Any black captured wearing a Federal uniform will summarily be hanged.

Shaw then appoints a tough sergeant from Ireland, Mulcahy (John Finn), to properly train the men for the battles ahead. Shaw also becomes much more strict. When the guns arrive Shaw makes Sharts, who is the best gun shooter among the enlisted men, shoot while he fires toward the sky right behind his head to prove the point that loading, aiming, and firing by yourself is much easier than loading, aiming, and firing in the heat of battle. Shaw then procceds to tell Forbes to train them properly. Though disgusted, Forbes carries out Shaw's request to properly train the men.

Meanwhile, Thomas finds life in camp difficult as he is the weakest and slowest of the men, and is constantly harassed by Trip for being educated like a white man. Trip himself has difficulty adjusting to camp life, always at odds with the other soldiers, especially Rawlins. One night he leaves camp to get some shoes, as his old shoes are worn out and the quartermaster has refused to issue proper supplies to the black regiment. Trip is caught and presumed a deserter by the officers. Shaw has him flogged in front of the entire regiment, proceeding even after seeing that his back is severely scarred from floggings as a slave. Shaw, after learning the truth from Rawlins (that Trip was going out to buy some shoes), finally forces the quartermaster to give the men new socks and shoes.

Soon, the men are assembled to receive long-awaited pay. However, upon learning that they will receive a $10 monthly wage rather than the $13 paid to white soldiers because they are a black regiment, the men, at Trip's provocation, tear up their wage sheets. In a show of solidarity with his soldiers, Shaw follows suit. However, spirits rise as the men receive uniforms. Jupiter is especially happy, long having desired a "blue suit". Before leaving Massachusetts, the regiment, dressed in new uniforms, file in review through the streets of Boston, passing Frederick Douglass and Governor Andrew in the reviewing stand.

During the subsequent trip south by steamer, Shaw appoints Rawlins Sergeant Major, making him the highest ranking enlisted man in the regiment. Shaw soon learns that there is another all black regiment called the "contraband"; more rabble than soldiers; looting and attacking civilians whenever the opportunity arises. After looting the town of Darien, Georgia, Colonel James Montgomery (Cliff De Young), a higher-ranking officer in charge of the contraband regiment, orders Shaw to provide assistance in burning the houses. Shaw initially resists the order but, to save himself from court-martial (which would leave his men to Montgomery's command), reluctantly capitulates. Likewise, the troops, although disgusted with their fellows' craven behavior, carry out their orders dutifully, well aware their commander has no choice in the matter.

Shaw and his men soon become frustrated that they have been assigned to manual labor and not allowed to fight in any battles; the troops grow weary of the tedious work and chafe at the taunting of white soldiers bound for the battlefield. After Shaw approaches the area commander with a threat to expose illegal activities undertaken by his command, his request that the regiment be allowed to fight is finally granted. In the Battle of Sol Legare Island, the troops push back a Confederate attack. Thomas saves Trip from a Confederate soldier and suffers a bullet wound; however, he refuses to leave the regiment.

Shortly thereafter, Shaw volunteers the 54th Massachusetts to be the lead regiment in the frontal assault on Fort Wagner. On the night before the attack, the men sing at the camp fire to raise their spirits for the imminent battle. The next day, the 54th Massachusetts is honored by white soldiers and officers on the march toward Fort Wagner. They then charge the fort under heavy enemy fire, and take shelter in the sand dunes. At nightfall, Shaw leads the men in a charge across the remaining beach. With the Rebels on the top of the fort firing down on them, Shaw turns to see the American flag down. He gets up and attempts to rally the men forward up the hill but is quickly shot and killed. Trip, formerly reluctant to bear the colors of a nation that regards him as a second-class citizen, gets up, lifts the flag, and rallies the men. He is shot, but holds up the flag, even while dying. The remaining men, led by Forbes and Rawlins, charge the Rebels, slowly making their way to the top. On their way, Thomas gets shot and shouts out to not worry about him, although he dies shortly after. Soon, the men meet the entrance of the fort, only to meet the waiting Confederate guns. The scene ends in the smoke from a hail of cannon fire.

The film concludes with the Confederates still holding the fort, while slain men of the 54th Massachusetts, including Shaw and Trip, are buried by the Confederates in a mass grave (with their shoes removed). Shaw being buried in the mass grave along with his soldiers was the result of him commanding African-American soldiers; the Confederates thought being buried with African-Americans would be a sign of disrespect. The 54th lost half its men that day but earned glory, sparking the creation of many more black regiments. By the end of the war, there were some 187,000 African-American men in uniform, a fact which President Abraham Lincoln considered instrumental in securing victory in the war. Fort Wagner was never taken during the war, though the CSA forces eventually abandoned it.

In A.D. 1280 Edward I of England, known as "Longshanks", has occupied much of Scotland, and his oppressive rule there leads to the deaths of William Wallace's father and brother. Years later, after Wallace has been raised abroad by his uncle, the Scots continue to live under the iron fist of Longshanks' cruel laws. Wallace returns, intent on living as a farmer and avoiding involvement in the ongoing "troubles." Wallace rekindles a romance with his childhood friend Murron after showing her the carefully preserved thistle she gave him as a child, and the two marry in secret to avoid the primae noctis decree the King has set forth. But after Wallace attacks a group of English soldiers attempting to rape her, the village Sheriff prevents the escape of and publicly cuts Murron's throat unbeknown to Wallace who believed her to have escaped. In retribution, an enraged Wallace, with the assistance of his fellow villagers, slaughters the English garrison. He then cuts the sheriff's throat with the same dagger that killed Murron.

Knowing that the local English lord will retaliate, Wallace and his men enter his castle dressed in English uniforms and burn it down. In response to Wallace's exploits, the commoners of Scotland rise in revolt against England.

As his legend spreads, hundreds of Scots from the surrounding clans volunteer to join Wallace's militia. Wallace leads his army through a series of successful battles against the English, including the Battle of Stirling and sacking the city of York. However, he is betrayed by the Scottish nobility and defeated at the Battle of Falkirk.

He goes into hiding, fighting a guerrilla war against English forces, and personally murders the two Scottish nobles who betrayed him at Falkirk. Meanwhile, Princess Isabelle, whose husband Prince Edward (Longshanks's son and heir) ignores her, meets with Wallace as the English King's emissary. She and Wallace share a tryst, during which she conceives Wallace's child. Still believing there is some good in the nobility of his country, Wallace eventually agrees to meet with the Bruce. He is caught in a trap set by the elder Bruce and the other nobles, beaten unconscious, and handed over to the English Crown. Robert the Bruce learns that his father did so to secure the throne for him: outraged by his father's treachery, he disowns him forever.

In London, Wallace is brought before the English magistrates and tried for high treason. He denies the charges, declaring that he had never accepted Edward as his King. The court responds by sentencing him to be "purified by pain." Later, in a London square, William Wallace is tortured, being hanged, racked, and disemboweled. The magistrate offers him a quick death in exchange for a plea for mercy. Awed by Wallace's courage, the Londoners watching the execution begin to yell for mercy to be given. William signals to the magistrate that he wishes to speak. Using the last strength in his body, he cries, "Freedom!" and turns his head, seeing an image of Murron in the crowd smiling at him as he is beheaded.

Some time later, Robert the Bruce takes control of the remaining Scottish army and faces a ceremonial line of English troops at the fields of Bannockburn. Invoking Wallace's memory and cheering his name, Robert the Bruce and the Scots charge the stunned English lines and win their freedom.

The film begins with a montage of actual archival film footage and narrated by a Dutch woman, Kate Ter Horst (Liv Ullmann), describing the state of affairs five years into the war. D-Day had come and gone and the Allies are bogged down by overextended supply lines. Supreme Allied Commander Dwight D. Eisenhower had to decide between U.S. General George S. Patton and British Field Marshal Bernard Montgomery, each of whom had competing plans for ending the war quickly, and being the first to get to Berlin. Under political pressure, Eisenhower chose Montgomery's Operation Market Garden. In September, 1944, the Allies are advancing but have paused in Belgium, near Lommel.

A Dutch family, part of the Dutch resistance underground, observes the German withdrawal toward Germany and awaits the impending arrival of Allied forces. Field Marshal Gerd von Rundstedt (Wolfgang Preiss) arrives in the Netherlands and discovers he has few resources in men or equipment and morale is very poor. The underground resistance leader (Siem Vroom), along with his 13-year old son (Erik van 't Wout), keep careful notes of German troops evacuating throughout Arnhem, information he will later pass on to the Dutch resistance.

Operation Market Garden envisions 35,000 men being flown 300 miles from air bases in England and being dropped as much as 64 miles behind enemy lines in the Netherlands. The largest airborne assault ever attempted, laying a "carpet of airborne troops" to seize key river bridges with "thunderclap surprise" and hold them until they can be taken over by Allied mechanized units, the 20,000 vehicles led by XXX Corps. Arnhem's bridge crosses the Lower Rhine (Neder Rijn) River, the last major river between the Allies and the German heartland, and seizure of the bridge will allow vast Allied armies to turn east into Germany. The general consensus among the British top brass is that resistance will consist entirely of "Hitler Youth or old men on bicycles".

The plan is to begin in seven days time, and for XXX Corps to reach Arnhem two days after the drop. The U.S. 101st Airborne Division, under Major General Maxwell D. Taylor (Paul Maxwell), is responsible for the road and bridges from the north side of Eindhoven to the south side of the Maas (Meuse) River at Grave. The U.S. 82nd Airborne Division, under Brigadier General James M. Gavin (Ryan O'Neal) is responsible for the bridge crossing the Maas, and from the north side of the Maas to the north side of the Waal River bridge, just north of Nijmegen. The 1st British Airborne, under Major-General Robert E. Urquhart (Sean Connery) is to land northwest of Oosterbeek, and take and hold the north side of the Lower Rhine River to the bridge at Arnhem. The Polish 1st Independent Parachute Brigade, Polish Major General Stanislaw Sosabowski (Gene Hackman), are to secure the south side of the Lower Rhine and make contact with Lieutenant-Colonel John Dutton Frost (Anthony Hopkins), and Second Battalion, who is to work his way east along the banks of the river. XXX Corps, lead by Lieutenant-General Brian G. Horrocks (Edward Fox), and spearheaded by Lieutenant-Colonel John O.E. Vandeleur (Michael Caine) on point, are to cross the Maas-Schelde Canal on the north side of Lommel and push up the road, as quickly as possible, to Arnhem. Hooking up, and linking, with the U.S. 101st, U.S. 82nd, and finally British 1st, at the Lower Rhine River bridge.

Field Marshal von Rundstedt and Field Marshal Walter Model (Walter Kohut) agree that American General Patton will be chosen to invade the Netherlands. SS-Lieutenant General Wilhelm Bittrich's (Maximilian Schell) II SS Panzer Corps (includes 9th SS and 10th SS Panzer divisions) is due for a rest, off the front lines. Rundstedt suggest they be pulled back to Arnhem and Model agrees.

Polish Major General Sosabowski (Gene Hackman) remains silent during the Market Garden command briefing, after which he voices his deep doubts that the plan can work. He is one of two dissident voices that are shuttled aside but correctly forecast defeat. American command worries about parachuting in daylight (no major drop had been previously attempted) but note it is a "no moon period" anyway meaning a night drop would be difficult.

The Dutch teenager manages to pass through German lines and discover that Field Marshal Model is at the German command HQ, an important bit of information for the underground because Model is a prominent figure and is always accompanied by German troops.

A young British intelligence officer, Major Fuller (in the film; actually Brian Urquhart; played by Frank Grimes), asks the British commander, Lieutenant-General Frederick A.M. Browning (Dirk Bogarde), to allow another low level reconnaissance mission of the Arnhem area. His request is granted.

British commanders planning the drop note that they are badly short of transport aircraft and the area near Arnhem is ill-suited for a landing. They will have to land in an open area eight miles (13 km) from the bridge. Sosabowski walks up to check the R.A.F briefing officer's (Jeremy Kemp) uniform insignia and says "Just making sure whose side you're on."

In a briefing led by General Urquhart (Sean Connery), describing 1st British Airborne plan at Arnhem, tells that the key for the eight mile distance from the drop zone to the bridge, is the use of gliders to bring in a special reconnaissance squadron with Jeeps, and mounted with twin Vickers machine guns. Everyone at the briefing is surprised they are going to attempt a landing so far from the bridge, but of course they have to make the best of it. Browning lays out that if any one group fails, the entire operation fails. As British officers, they keep a "stiff upper lip" and do not question their orders. Sosabowski thinks about asking for a letter from General Browning (Dirk Bogarde), stating that he is being forced to act under Browning's order in case his men are massacred.

British technical support preparing the portable radios for the mission note they are not likely to work for the long distance from the drop zone to the Arnhem bridge. Lieutenant Cole (Peter Settelen) who used the radio equipment in the desert of North Africa, had no trouble with it. But, Cole's superior, Major Robert Steele (Stephen Moore) thinks that the water and trees of Holland will cause the radios not to work. As with most others with doubts about the mission, they choose not to rock the boat and do not convey their concerns up the chain of command.

Learning a German armored (Panzer) division might be near the Arnhem area, intelligence officer Major Fuller (Frank Grimes) brings the reconnaissance photos to General Browning and it is quite clear German tanks are present at Arnhem. Browning speculates the tanks are not in fully serviceable condition, dismisses the photos, and also ignores the confirmation reports from the Dutch underground. Browning does not want to be the one to tell Montgomery of any doubts because 16 consecutive previous airborne drop operation have been canceled. Major Fuller's concerns are brushed off and he is actually removed from duty, and informed by a British doctor (Gerald Sim) whose diagnosis is that the officer is too stressed to perform his duties.

At the ground forces (XXX Corps) briefing, the overall plan is outlined, laying out the bridges that will be taken by the paratroopers, held and then secured by ground forces. Speed is the vital factor. Arnhem must be reached within 2–3 days. It is the crucial bridge, the last means of escape for the German forces in the Netherlands and an excellent route to Germany for Allied forces who hope to finish the war by Christmas. The major road that connects Lommel with Arnhem (Lommel-Valkenswaard-Eindhoven-Son-Veghal-Uden-Grave-Nijmegen-Elst-Arnhem) is only a single highway linking the various key bridges. It is passable for two regular cars, but trucks and tanks have to squeeze to the shoulder to pass. The road is also elevated, approximately three to six feet, causing anything moving on the road to stand out.

The initial phases of Market Garden go as planned, the airborne drops catch the Germans totally by surprise, and there is little to no resistance. Additionally there are no Axis aircraft to push the troop transports off of their landing zones. Most of the men come down in soft, plowed fields. The drop for the 101st was the best they had during the war. The men were more likely to get hit by falling equipment than get shot by the Germans. Model, thinking that the Allies must be trying to capture him personally, doesn't think about the bridge, but retreats from Arnhem. General Gavin (Ryan O'Neal) breaks two discs in his back during his landing. The special reconnaissance squadron, is lead by Freddie Gough, with the special Jeeps (with Vickers machine guns), some of which either didn't arrive by gliders at all or were shot up in an ambush. Meanwhile, Bittrich and his subordinate, General Lugwig (Hardy Krüger), realize the situation and send forces to reinforce Nijmegen and Arnhem. When a German soldier captures the actual plans for Market Garden from an abandoned glider, Model brushes them off as fake, but still knows they will be able to repel the paratroopers.

Expected German resistance begins slowing XXX Corps' progress immediately, and they do not arrive in Eindhoven when planned. The advance is also curtailed by the narrow highway. As the 506th of the 101st, led by Colonel Robert Stout (Elliott Gould), approaches the bridge over the Wilhelmina Canal, at Son (Zon), German 88 mm guns hold them off until the bridge is blown up. It takes 36 hours to bring up Bailey bridging equipment and construct a bridge. In Nijmegen, part of the 82nd Airborne, led by US Major Julian Cook (Robert Redford), is forced to perform a dangerous daylight river crossing in flimsy canvas-and-wood assault boats. As the British cross the bridge, the Germans attempt to destroy it, but fail. However, it makes no difference: the XXX Corps' progress is still slow and the Germans close in on the 1st Airborne, as they were not expecting to fight two SS Panzer Divisions. British paratroopers do take and occupy parts of Arnhem, but can only hold so long. The initial German attack on the paratroopers is repelled with many German casualties, but are still hard-pressed. British Armour continues to fight its way up the corridor, but is hopelessly delayed by events. After securing Nijmegen Bridge, XXX Corps waits several hours for its infantry forces to finish securing the town. After days of house-to-house fighting in Arnhem, paratroops versus crack SS infantry and Panzers, the paras are either captured or forced to withdraw. Operation Market Garden has failed. Urquhart manages to escape capture with two thousand of his troops and confronts Browning about his personal feeling about the operation, which was determined to have been 90% successful. Browning replies "I always felt we tried to take it a bridge too far."

The film begins in 1939 with the relocation of Polish Jews from surrounding areas to the Kraków Ghetto shortly after the beginning of World War II. Meanwhile, Oskar Schindler (Liam Neeson), an unsuccessful businessman, arrives in the city from the Sudetenland in hopes of making his fortune as a war profiteer. Schindler, a member of the Nazi Party, lavishes bribes upon the Wehrmacht and SS officials in charge of procurement. Sponsored by the military, Schindler acquires a factory for the production of army mess kits. Not knowing much about how to properly run such an enterprise, he gains a close collaborator in Itzhak Stern (Ben Kingsley), an official of Krakow's Judenrat (Jewish Council) who has contacts with the Jewish business community and the black marketers inside the Ghetto. They lend him the money for the factory in return for a small share of products produced. Opening the factory, Schindler pleases the Nazis and enjoys his newfound wealth and status as "Herr Direktor", while Stern handles all administration. Schindler hires Jews instead of Poles because they cost less (the workers themselves get nothing; the wages are paid to the State). Workers in Schindler's factory are allowed outside the ghetto, and Stern falsifies documents to ensure that as many people as possible are deemed "essential" to the German war effort, which saves them from being transported to concentration camps, or being killed.

SS officer Amon Göth (Ralph Fiennes) arrives in Krakow to initiate construction of the new Płaszów concentration camp. He orders liquidation of part of the ghetto and Operation Reinhard in Kraków begins, with hundreds of troops emptying the cramped rooms and murdering anyone who protests, appears uncooperative, elderly or infirm. In many cases, the killings were arbitrary. Schindler watches the massacre from the hills overlooking the area, and is profoundly affected. He nevertheless is careful to befriend Göth and, through Stern's attention to bribery, he continues to enjoy the SS's support and protection. During this time, Schindler bribes Göth into allowing him to build a sub-camp for his workers. Originally, his intentions are to continue making money, but as time passes, he begins ordering Stern to save as many lives as possible. As the war shifts, an order arrives from Berlin commanding Göth to exhume and destroy the remains of every Jew murdered in the Krakow Ghetto, dismantle Płaszów, and to ship the remaining Jews to the Auschwitz concentration camp.

At first, Schindler prepares to leave Kraków with his ill-gotten fortune. Then however, he prevails upon Göth to let him keep "his" workers, so that he can move them to a factory in his old home of Zwittau-Brinnlitz, in Moravia, away from the "final solution", now fully underway in occupied Poland. Göth acquiesces, but charges a massive bribe for each worker. Schindler and Stern assemble a list of workers who are to be kept off the trains to Auschwitz.

"Schindler's List" comprises these "skilled" inmates, and for many of those in Płaszów camp, being included means the difference between life and death. Almost all of the people on Schindler's list arrive safely at the new site. The train carrying the Jewish women is accidentally redirected to Auschwitz. There, the horrified women are taken to what they believe to be the gas chambers; but weep with joy when water falls from the showers. The day after, the women are shown waiting in line for work. In the meantime, Schindler had rushed immediately to Auschwitz to solve the problem. Intending to rescue all the women, he bribes the camp commander, Rudolf Höß, with a cache of diamonds in exchange for releasing the women to Brinnlitz. However, a last minute problem arises just when all the women are boarding the train. Several SS officers attempt to hold back the children and prevent them from leaving. Schindler, however, insists that he needs their hands to polish the narrow insides of artillery shells. As a result, the children are released. Once the women arrive in Zwittau-Brinnlitz, Schindler institutes firm controls on the SS guards assigned to the factory, forbidding them to shoot or torture anyone. He also permits the Jews to observe the Sabbath. In order to keep his factory workers alive, he spends much of his fortune bribing Nazi officials. Later, he surprises his wife while she is in the village church during mass, and tells her that she will now be the only woman in his life, a concession he had refused to grant previously. She goes with him to the factory to assist him. He runs out of money just as the Wehrmacht surrenders, ending the war in Europe.

As a Nazi Party member and a self-described "profiteer of slave labor", in 1945 Schindler must flee the advancing Red Army. Although the SS guards have been ordered to "liquidate" the Jews of Brinnlitz, Schindler persuades them to return to their families as men and not as murderers. In the aftermath, he packs a car in the night, and bids farewell to his workers. They give him a letter explaining he is not a criminal to them, together with a ring secretly made from a worker's gold dental bridge and engraved with a Talmudic quotation, "Whoever saves one life saves the world entire." Schindler is touched but deeply ashamed, feeling he could have done more to save many more lives. Weeping, he considers how many more lives he could have saved as he leaves with his wife during the night.

The Schindler Jews, having slept outside the factory gates through the night, are awakened by sunlight the next morning. A Soviet dragoon arrives and announces to the Jews that they have been liberated by the Red Army. The Jews walk to a nearby town in search of food.

After a few scenes depicting post-war events and locations such as the execution of Amon Göth for war crimes, and a brief summary of what eventually happened to Oskar Schindler in his later years, the film returns to the Jews walking to the nearby town. As they walk abreast, the frame changes to one in color of the Schindler Jews in the present day at the grave of Oskar Schindler in Jerusalem. The film ends by showing a procession of now-elderly Jews who worked in Schindler's factory, each of whom reverently sets a stone on his grave. The actors portraying the major characters walk hand-in-hand with the people they portrayed, and also place stones on Schindler's grave as they pass. The audience learns that at the time of the film's release, there were fewer than 4,000 Jews left alive in Poland, while there were more than 6,000 descendants of the Schindler Jews throughout the world. In the final scene, Liam Neeson (though his face is not visible) places a pair of roses on the grave and stands contemplatively over it.

The film concludes with a statement, "In memory of the more than six million Jews murdered"; the closing credits begin with a view of a road paved with headstones culled from Jewish cemeteries during the war (as depicted in the film), before fading to black.

The film documents the story of General George S. Patton (George C. Scott) during World War II, beginning with his taking charge of demoralized American forces in North Africa after the Battle of the Kasserine Pass, leading them to victory at the Battle of El Guettar. He then participates in the invasion of Sicily and races against the equally egotistical British General Bernard Law Montgomery to capture the Sicilian port of Messina. Patton is shown as believing in reincarnation, while remaining a devout Christian. At one point in the movie, during the North Africa campaign, Patton takes his staff on an unexpected detour to the site of the ancient Battle of Zama. There he reminisces about the battle, insisting to Omar Bradley that he was there.

After he beats Montgomery into Messina, Patton is relieved of command for slapping a shell-shocked soldier (Tim Considine) in an Army hospital. This incident, along with his tendency to speak his mind to the press, gets the general in trouble and he is sidelined during the invasion of Europe, being placed in command of the fictional First United States Army Group in south-east England. Later, he begs his former subordinate, General Omar Bradley (Karl Malden), for a command before the war ends. He is given the U.S. Third Army and distinguishes himself by rapidly sweeping across France and later relieving the vital town of Bastogne during the Battle of the Bulge. Later, Patton smashes through the German "West Wall" and drives into Germany itself.

Just prior to victory in Europe, Patton remarks to a British crowd that America and Great Britain would dominate the post-war world, which the press finds insulting to the Russians. After the Germans capitulate, he insults a Russian officer at a celebration; fortunately, the Russian insults Patton right back, leading to mutual respect and defusing the situation. Later, Patton casually compares the defeated Nazis to American Republicans and Democrats, costing him his command.

The film was originally intended to have been a TV miniseries. The producers originally pitched the project to ABC in 1991. ABC initially agreed to back the project, but when a TV movie about George Custer got low ratings, ABC pulled out. It wasn't long until media mogul Ted Turner picked it up and the film went into production.

For the first time, the National Park Service allowed the motion picture industry to recreate and film battle scenes directly on the Gettysburg Battlefield, including scenes of Devil's Den and Little Round Top. However, much of the movie was shot at a nearby Adams County farm. Thousands of Civil War reenactors from across the country volunteered their time and expense to come to Gettysburg to participate in the massive battle scenes.

The miniseries was set to air on TNT. But when Turner saw part of the film during post-production, he realized it was much bigger than a miniseries and decided to release the film theatrically. The film was distributed by New Line Cinema which Turner would acquire a year later. Released in fewer than 150 theaters nationwide, and limited to only two showings or less per day because of its length, the film still managed to gross over ten million dollars at the box office, but statistically speaking was a box-office flop. It would go on to become an all-time high seller on the VHS and DVD market, and has become a staple of classroom history lessons. Its broadcast TV premier on TNT in June 1994 garnered over 23 million viewers, a record for cable TV at the time.

One of the longest films ever released by a Hollywood studio, Gettysburg runs 254 minutes (4 hours, 14 minutes) on VHS and DVD. A "Director's Cut", with several extended or deleted scenes, was produced and sold as a part of a special "Collector's Edition" released on VHS and LaserDisc, which also included Mort Künstler's book of Gettysburg paintings, an original Civil War lead Minié ball, some stock photographs of key officers from the battle, and other items. The editor's cut has not appeared on any DVDs to date. Ron Maxwell's 271-minute (4 hours, 31 minutes) Director's Cut has been shown on Turner's TNT Station regularly. This version is not available on DVD.

Roland Bozz (Colin Farrell), a drafted soldier who is opposed to the war, is shown to be an unruly soldier who has no respect for authority: disobeying orders, talking back to his superiors, and having a foul mouth. He quickly befriends another soldier known as Paxton (Matthew Davis).

It is the year 1971 and as the film progresses, another side of Bozz is shown. Having "x-ray vision for loopholes," Bozz finds ways for soldiers to get out of the army, one because he has not only his children, but a handicapped wife with her own, and later another soldier Miter (Clifton Collins Jr.) who joined to prove his manhood but finds himself way over his head. At one point, an officer approaches Bozz while on leave and asks for help getting out, saying "I was told if you want to get out of the army, you either pray to Jesus, or go see Roland Bozz." Bozz also shows his reasoning behind being opposed to the war: his human compassion. Eventually Bozz's natural leadership and ability earns him the title of squad leader (sometimes called acting Jack). Another private named Wilson (who is a racial bigot and also an instigator) continuously demeans Miter and Bozz (basically anyone whom he judges to be "weaker" than himself). Bozz is the only one that retaliates, which results in a fight between the two. As the fight is broken up and Paxton gets involved, he also garners the hatred of Wilson.

At a bar, Bozz is seen holding a black book with a hand showing the peace sign. This book is possibly a message from the writer to the audience of where the possible influence for the movie came about. It was a copy of Johnny Got His Gun by Dalton Trumbo.

Later, while doing live fire exercises, Wilson goes after Bozz with a gun, telling him he's going to kill him. Bozz tries to take away the gun and the two wrestle each other to the ground, Wilson getting the upper hand and putting the gun to the back of Bozz's head and pulling the trigger. Miraculously, the gun gets jammed, saving Bozz's life. The Commanding Officer lets Bozz choose the punishment: have Wilson court-martialed or "let me deal with him," strongly suggesting the latter. Despite the commanding officer strongly pressing to let him deal with it, Bozz says he wants Wilson "out of the army" because he recognizes Wilson has taken an emotional beating ever since his inability to command became obvious. Bozz leaves the office saying he wants Wilson out.

As the movie nears the end, the platoon is sent to "Tigerland" - a place specially designed as the best possible replica of Vietnam. During an exercise, the platoon competes with another, which they find out is commanded by Wilson, who did not get kicked out of the army after all. As the exercise ends with Bozz's platoon "winning," Wilson tells Bozz he will kill him no matter what it takes.

Soon thereafter, Bozz is about ready to make an escape to Mexico with the aid of some civilians he paid. Platoon member Johnson (Russell Richardson)sees him and tells him to stop. Johnson tells him if he runs away, Wilson will go after Paxton instead of Bozz and he will be responsible for his friend's death. The scene ends with Bozz climbing into the van, but the next morning as the platoon falls in, Bozz comes back, acting as if he had merely gone off to urinate.

During the last training exercise of the movie, Bozz's platoon is sent out to find Wilson's platoon. As Wilson's platoon prepares for the attack, he replaces his blank cartridges with live ammunition and removes his barrel plug. As Bozz's platoon nears, he opens fire - while he does not hit anyone, it is obvious he is using live ammunition and the trainer for the exercise tries to stop it. As he does, Bozz is standing above Paxton and fires a blank round, wounding Paxton's eye from the blank round's blowback exhaust. The trainer then gets in front of Wilson, aiming a pistol at his head and getting him to hold his weapon up and surrender, telling him he will be court-martialed.

At the end of the movie, the platoon gets ready to head to Vietnam. As he says goodbye, Paxton tells Bozz his wound won't cause permanent damage but he's going home. He also tells Bozz he's going to write about him, but Bozz adamantly does not want to be made into a hero. The movie ends with bus driving off, Paxton telling Bozz through the window he'll write about him. Bozz says he won't, holding up Paxton's journal, ripping out pages as the bus drives off, Paxton trying to regain his journal while Bozz rips out pages. Bozz then throws the journal back down before the bus speeds away to Vietnam.

Tigerland was filmed on location in Jacksonville, Florida and Camp Blanding, site of the Demi Moore film G.I. Jane.

A French Army unit is on patrol in Vietnam in 1954 during the First Indochina War and is suddenly ambushed by the Viet Minh; although the French unit kills many Viet Minh, it is eventually overrun. Senior Lieutenant Nguyễn Hữu An (Don Duong), hypothesising that, if they kill all they send; the French will eventually stop sending troops, orders the execution of all surviving French soldiers.

Eleven years later, Lieutenant Colonel Hal Moore (Mel Gibson), a dedicated United States Army officer, is deeply committed to training his troops, who are preparing to be sent to Vietnam. The night before their departure, the unit's officers hold a party to celebrate. Moore learns from a superior officer that his unit will be known as the 1st Battalion / 7th Cavalry regiment. He is disquieted because the 7th Cavalry regiment was the unit commanded by Lieutenant Colonel George Armstrong Custer when he and his men were slaughtered at the 1876 Battle of the Little Bighorn. Moore is also dismayed because President Lyndon B. Johnson has decreed that the war would be fought "on the cheap," without declaring it a national emergency. As a result, Moore believes he will be deprived of his oldest, best-trained soldiers (a formal declaration of war would have meant mobilization and extension of the terms of enlistment for volunteer soldiers) - about 25% of his battalion - just prior to shipping out for Vietnam. Before leaving for Vietnam, Moore delivers a poignant speech to his unit:

"Look around you. In the 7th Cavalry, we got a captain from the Ukraine, another from Puerto Rico. We got Japanese, Chinese, blacks, Hispanics, Cherokee Indians, Jews and Gentiles—all American. Now here in the States, some men in this unit may experience discrimination because of race or creed, but for you and me now, all that is gone. We're moving into the valley of the shadow of death, where you will watch the back of the man next to you, as he will watch yours, and you won't care what color he is or by what name he calls God. They say we're leaving Home. We're going to what home was always supposed to be. Let us understand the situation. We're going into battle against a tough and determined enemy. I can't promise you that I will bring you all home alive, but this I swear, before you and before almighty God: that when we go into battle, I will be the first one to set foot on the field, and I will be the last to step off. And I will leave no one behind. Dead or alive, we will all come home together. So help me God."

After arriving in Vietnam, he learns that an American base has been attacked and is ordered to take his 395 men after the enemy and eliminate them, despite the fact that intelligence has no idea of the number of enemy troops. He leads a newly created air cavalry unit into the Ia Drang Valley against over 4,000 well equipped enemy soldiers.

An emotional toll is taken back home, where Moore's wife Julie (Madeleine Stowe) and another soldier's wife (Keri Russell) take over the job of delivering telegrams that inform families (mainly wives like themselves) living at Fort Benning, Georgia, the unit's base of operation, of soldiers' deaths.

After landing in the "Valley of Death", the soldiers capture a Vietnamese lookout who informs them that the location they were sent to is actually the headquarters of an entire North Vietnamese division. An American platoon is isolated some distance from the battalion's main position, after 2nd Lieutenant Henry Herrick (Marc Blucas) saw a scout and ran after him, ordering his reluctant soldiers to follow. The scout led them into an ambush, resulting in some of the platoon members, including Herrick, getting killed and several wounded. Sergeant Savage assumes command of the platoon by default, and by calling in artillery and using the cover of darkness, holds off the Vietnamese from their position. The story switches between the Vietnamese and American points of view several times. Despite being trapped near the landing zone, and desperately outnumbered, the main force manages to hold off the Vietnamese with artillery, close air support, and even calling a last-resort Broken Arrow just before being overrun, killing some of their own soldiers but eliminating most of the Vietnamese offensive force. The American troop secure the area and, shortly after the attack on the second day, rescue Lieutenant Herrick's trapped platoon.

On the third day Moore and his men charge up the mountain where the Vietnamese division headquarters is located. The Vietnamese have set up heavy machine gun emplacements near the hidden entrance of the underground headquarters spoken of by the scout. Hal and his men charge right at them, into a seemingly impending massacre, but before the Vietnamese can fire, Major Bruce "Snakeshit" Crandall and wingman Captain Ed W. "Too Tall" Freeman fly in with their helicopters and kill the Vietnamese guards with their side-mounted mini-guns. The Vietnamese commander is alerted that the Americans have broken through the lines, and the headquarters has no troops between them and the Americans. He orders the headquarters evacuated. Moore, having completed his objective, returns to the L.Z. to be picked up, and, after all of his men, dead or alive, are removed from the battlefield, steps on to a helicopter and flies out of the valley. Strong visual emphasis is placed on Moore's being the last American to set foot off the field of battle.

At the end of the movie it is revealed that Moore (having been promoted to Colonel) returned home safely after 235 more days of fighting.

It is one of the most moving and remarkable films about childhood I’ve ever seen. The setting of The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas is as grim as it gets, but the perspective is a magical piece of cinema. Bruno is the eight-year-old son of a Nazi officer, and the curious eyes and ears of Mark Herman’s gripping story. When his father is promoted from a desk job in Berlin to commanding a death camp in the middle of nowhere, Bruno can’t fathom the sudden frosty tension between his parents, or why he is forbidden to visit the strange “farm” with the electric fences.

There’s a Swallows and Amazons innocence about Bruno’s efforts to picklock these mysteries that cuts both ways. His secret friendship with an amiable and starving Jewish boy called Shmuel on the other side of the wire has the rhythm of a children’s adventure, spiked by unspeakable adult truths. The two boys exchange tokens, play draughts and struggle to understand the prejudices and propaganda that separate them.

It’s a beautifully balanced chamber piece. The cast is terrific. David Thewlis and Vera Farmiga are wonderfully icy as the overprotective parents whose lies about the death camp are as hollow as their marriage. Their stiflingly formal dinner parties for ambitious young officers and Nazi dignitaries have a habit of turning toxic at the drop of a fork.

An ambitious film that can be viewed as either half empty or half full, "Blood Diamond" attempts something difficult and problematic. It can be pulled apart or appreciated, depending on your mood, but it should be recognized that movies like this have become as rare and potentially valuable as the stone that sets its plot in motion.

Starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Connelly and a powerful Djimon Hounsou, and set amid the surreal chaos of an Africa in perpetual armed conflict, "Blood Diamond" attempts to be an action thriller with serious political overtones, to be as much position paper as "Zulu Dawn."

Directed by Edward Zwick, who believes that "political awareness can be raised as much by entertainment as by rhetoric," "Blood Diamond" attempts to marry the budget and the stars of major league Hollywood with a serious message about difficult un-Hollywood subjects like child soldiers, contraband diamonds and amputations as a tool of war. It is an awkward fit at times, but the attempt is more successful than might be imagined.

It's a mark of the trickiness of the intertwined subjects of diamonds and the 1990s civil war in Sierra Leone that Charles Leavitt's script tackles that "Blood Diamond" has gotten pre-release criticism from all sides of the political spectrum.

De Beers, the international diamond concern, has taken expensive pains to distance itself from the film's scenario and its fictitious cartel Van Der Kaap. The trade arm of the government of South Africa, where the film was in part shot, has a stern on-screen disclaimer insisting it "does not accept any liability for the content and does not necessarily support such content." And the makers of "The Empire in Africa," a new documentary, claim Zwick and company have unnecessarily demonized the rebels who fought for control of the country.

Blood diamonds, sometimes known as conflict stones, were so named in the 1990s by advocacy groups wanting to call attention to the fact that diamonds were being smuggled out of countries at war specifically to buy more arms and kill more people. This situation, the film emphasizes, "created millions of refugees who've never seen a diamond."

One of those folks is Solomon Vandy (Hounsou), a humble Sierra Leone fisherman who wants his son Dia (Kagiso Kuypers) to be a doctor when he grows up. Those plans are put on hold when the country's rebels attack and destroy Vandy's village, turning his family into refugees and landing Solomon in a rebel-run diamond mine overseen by the appropriately named Captain Poison (David Harewood).

One day Vandy comes upon an enormous pinkish stone, as big as a bird's egg. He manages to hide it before he is captured by government forces and ends up in a prison where his discovery comes to the attention of fellow detainee Danny Archer (DiCaprio). An amoral gunrunner and former mercenary from Zimbabwe, which he insists on calling by its old name of Rhodesia, Danny, like Poison and Vandy himself, wants the stone for its power to change lives.

The only character in the film who doesn't want the diamond is Maddy Bowen (Connelly), an action junkie photojournalist who instead wants Archer's help exposing the ins and outs of the conflict diamond business. She and the soldier of fortune begin one of those flinty and flirtatious movie relationships that is part antagonism, part attraction, all star power.

Given that so many want to lay hands on that stone, "Blood Diamond" contains a considerable amount of plot, smoothly and professionally moved along by director Zwick, who also handles the film's numerous action scenes with a confident touch.

On the other hand, and with this film there is always another hand, when repeated coincidences and numerous hairsbreadth escapes are factored in, all that plotting can sometimes feel like too much of a good thing.

Also noteworthy is DiCaprio's performance in the kind of good-bad guy roles Clark Gable used to knock off before breakfast. This is the new, mature Leo, first glimpsed in "The Departed," and he throws himself into the part with such conviction and skill he makes us believe in his character more than we otherwise might. Despite these best efforts, however, there is not enough of Gable's kind of traditional masculinity in the actor's persona for his work to enlarge the picture as much as it should.

As for DiCaprio's costars, Connelly has some potent speeches and once again proves her ability to hold the screen with major male players. And Hounsou, a native of Benin, factors in his obvious feeling for the continent and creates a passionate portrait of a man determined to find his family again.

Africa is also one of the stars of "Blood Diamond," as cinematographer Eduardo Serra ("Girl With a Pearl Earring"), shooting in Mozambique and Sierra Leone as well as South Africa, convincingly puts the at times wrenching chaos of that continent on screen.

But if the scenes of the transformation of children into soldiers is harrowing stuff, "Blood Diamond" also has a weakness for the Hollywood emotional moment and convenient plot resolutions.

Finally, though, those weaker moments are overshadowed by the film's willingness to risk disturbing an audience's sense of the world and how it is run. "Blood Diamond" is very much aware that these are problems beyond easy and convenient resolution, and it is hard not to appreciate any film that understands that.

Defiance stars Daniel Craig, Liev Schreiber, Jamie Bell, and George MacKay as four Jewish brothers from Poland who escaped the Nazi persecution and fought back to rescue fellow Jews. Production began in early September 2007. Casualties were almost a million and hundreds of thousands of orphans were left without food, shelter and family. On April 6, Rwandan President Habyarimana was killed and a revolution sparked between two rival African groups: the Hutus and the Tutsis. Luckily, writer /director Terry George (The Boxer) makes it nearly impossible to keep this heart-wrenching story buried. With an inspiring message that spans across time and through generations, Hotel Rwanda is the type of movie that promotes change. Instead of positioning the story of Rwanda as a historical account of events, George takes a chance in recounting the life of a local hero, Paul Rusesabagina (Don Cheadle), and the risks he took to save the lives of many.

Hotel Rwanda starts where the tragedy begins. Rusesabagina is house manager of the luxurious Des Mille Collines. Along with checking in guests, he must use his wise business sense to buy supplies from a rebellious Hutu who strives to get Rusesabagina involved in taking a stand against the Tutsis. At first, Rusesabagina is in denial; afraid of getting involved and ignorant enough to believe that peace between the Hutus and the Tutsies is underway. Tension mounts when his neighbors are raided and beaten down simply because of their identity. When his own wife and children are threatened and the community is forced out of their homes, reality sets in for Rusesabagina. As chaos ensues, United Nations forces, previously stationed to help, leave the Rwandans with nothing but their own bruised will. Tutsi refugees turn to the Hutu Rusesabagina for help. Now, only one man can open his heart and his hotel to the hundreds of fleeing Tutsis and save Rwanda and its identity.

Hotel Rwanda seems to portray plenty of accurate depictions. Most interesting is the range of relationships between the white Americans and the Rwandans in need. There are the tourists who forcefully pry their way out of the country in a selfish effort to distance themselves from any sort of controversy. Nick Nolte plays Colonel Oliver, a U.N. official who recognizes Rusesabagina’s intelligence, yet sees the world in black and white. It is the young Jack, Joaquin Phoenix (The Village), a US news cameraman that views the tragedy objectively. When he grows close to an African Rwandan refugee, Jack has some crucial decisions to make.

The most deserving performance goes to Don Cheadle who single-handedly brought George’s script bouncing off the page into a realm of true reality. It is not only assuring, but also refreshing to see Cheadle shine in a dramatic leading role where he can prove to audiences he’s much more than a serial con man. Cheadle’s portrayal of Rusesabagina is powerful in scenes where the actor shivers while driving over a sea of dead and bloody bodies in the streets of Kigali, Rwanda. It is said that Terry George had Don Cheadle in mind for the part since the film’s birth, yet the studio was keener to cast Denzel Washington or Wesley Snipes. Cheadle won the role and frankly, no other African-American could have played Rusesabagina better.

With Hotel Rwanda, Terry George crafts a script with delicate detail to expose the harsh reality of terror and hatred. This movie is about the fight; an ongoing battle for love, heritage, community and freedom. Hotel Rwanda goes the extra length beyond the death tolls, facts, and figures to a place that warms the heart. This film shines on the big screen not only as a heroic journey, but a way to channel the importance of peace in our world.

VALKYRIE is produced by Bryan Singer, Christopher McQuarrie and Gilbert Adler. McQuarrie co-wrote the original screenplay with Nathan Alexander who also serves as co-producer. The executive producers are Chris Lee, Ken Kamins, Daniel M. Snyder, Dwight C. Schar and Mark Shapiro.
The film was shot in Germany at various locations where many of the actual events occurred, including the historic Bendlerblock. Recreating the atmosphere of urgency and paranoia inside the German resistance is a team that includes Singer’s frequent collaborators Newton Thomas Sigel (SUPERMAN RETURNS, X2, X-MEN) as director of photography and editor/composer John Ottman (SUPERMAN RETURNS, X2); as well as production designers Lilly Kilvert (two-time Oscar®-nominee for THE LAST SAMURAI and LEGENDS OF THE FALL) and Patrick Lumb (THE OMEN) and costume designer Joanna Johnston (MUNICH, SAVING PRIVATE RYAN).
